American 'work experience' - what do they offer kids over their in the States please?
-
Here in the UK we have - or at least we have had in the past - something called 'work experience'; whereby employers could offer opportunities to students about to leave school 'day-release' type programmes - to work within a 'real' work environment to give them a chance to see what they might choose to take up as careers. Would someone be kind enough to tell me what similar kinds of programmes they currently offer in the States please? Please supply Weblinks if you know any please?

Answer:
Teenagers work in grocery stores, fast food places, and gas stations, etc. There are no government funded 'let's introduce our kids to the work force' type of programs. Unless you count technical schools where teenagers can learn the basics of becoming electricians, plumbers, etc. But those aren't established by the government
