My overseas job consultancy not returning my passport!!?

  • hi, i gave my passport to a consultancy for job in Australia, 11th Jan., 2012. they promised of 25 days, after 1 month and 25 days I asked to return my passport and said I don't wanna go now.. the consultancy never answer my call, when i visited the consultancy, they say will give you visa but not passport, i said that i don't wanna go but they are not returning my passport at all.. and because they are not returning my passport.. i lost a lot of other overseas other opportunities.. i quit my job and because of stress and depression of passport that I'll never get my passport i also almost committed suicide..

    edit: you have been scammed, stop sitting on the internet asking complete strangers for advice, go to the police original answer: Call the police - no one should hang on to your passport If you are not based in your home country then you also need to involve your country's embassy - contrary to what has been said, the passport is not your property it is actually the property of your government

Better complain to the Police to avoid any misuse and your getting into trouble. The passport is your property and not to be parted with at any cost and circumstance. Act immediately before you get into trouble and help authorities to nab such fraudsters.

When will you people in India learn that a "consultancy" is nothing more than place setup to take your money from you? In the USA you'd report this to the police. In India my guess is that would simply be a waste of time. Try it anyways.

This is a scam, there are no consultancies that get visas for people

u dont need to worry about this.. a duplicate could always be procured from the passport office if you report a loss. Alternatively, if you have proof that they have taken your passport, you could file a police complaint against the consultancy for the return of your passport. You could try talking to them and tell them that you are planning to file a police complaint which would probably make them return it anyway. All this fails, go for the duplicate but thinking of suicide over such an issue??? pffffftttttt!!!
