Why do people assume only Catholics celebrate Christmas as a Christian holiday?
-
Searching for answers on here about Christmas, i see that most people (namely Atheists and Agnostics) assume that only Catholics celebrate this holiday as a Christian holiday. Now i am not telling anyone who to believe in, if you want to believe there is no God and burn in hell for all eternity, that is your business. But there are several religions that believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and for all of us, Christmas is a sacred holiday celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Catholics might believe that too, but they arent the only ones. Baptists, Pentecostals, Assembly of God, Fellowship of Jesus, Church of Christ, all of them celebrate the holiday of Christmas as a sacred religious holiday marking the birth of Jesus. I am 100% christian and I am not in any way proclaiming to be Catholic. I am Pentecostal myself and it really offends me and several others of different faiths to be generalized this way. Why do people on here not realize the difference?

Answer:
"Now i am not telling anyone who to believe in, if you want to believe there is no God and burn in hell for all eternity, that is your business." What if my god isn't your god? Does your god have the power to send me to hell if my god decides to send me to heaven? And by my god, I mean Jimmy Page of course.

The Catholic Church is - far and away - the largest and most visible of Christian Churches. That is why people generally associate Christmas with Catholicism.

Christmas is a cluster of Pagan holidays, that was changed to Sol Invictus when the Roman empire took. It’s no coincidence that both Sol Invictus, and Christmas share December 25′th as their official date. The reason they share the date is that when the Catholic church spread its religious crusading plague and took over Europe they stole a page from the Romans and changed the holidays to “Christmas” in order to gain converts. Even though Christians acknowledge that Jesus was not born on December 25′th they try to cover up the fact. Christians hope by ignoring Christmas’s origins, they can some how change history. I think the funniest part is that Christians even tried banning Christmas altogether in the 1600′s because of all of the pagan aspects it still retains. LOLOLOL. Christmas trees, holly, wreaths, mistletoe… all of it is whats managed to survive from pre-Christian religions. And remember, this stuff survived through eras where Christians were burning people at the stake, stripping the flesh off their bodies while they still lived, and torturing them worse than any guy on a cross ever was. The stakes were pretty high for holding on to pagan ways. Pretty amazing that any of it managed to survive really…
