Should I get Christmas gifts for the family I was a Nanny for?

  • I was a Nanny for a family over the Summer. I still babysit for them quite often. Last week, I was babysitting for them when the mother showed me a new Coach purse that she bought. I told her it was beautiful and I too have a lunch of purses. She turned around and told her daughter, "Figured out what we were getting Nanny for Christmas." So they are going to buy me a Coach purse. I was not expecting such a nice gift since I am more like a babysitter now. Originally, I was going to bake some cookies for them...but now I feel like I should get them something nicer. I love the family but I didn't expect them to get me such an expensive gift. I cannot afford to spend a ton. The kids LOVE Pokemon...so I'm going to get them some Pokemon toys that they were talking about. What should I get the parents? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Well! Nanny I could suggest you to purchase a signature key chain for the little kids to remember you as lifelong that you love them in such a way you have expressed so far to them to not quit your name in the absence of you .

That's so nice! How sweet. I recommend getting them soemthing nice, but since you're on a budget, make sure it's affordable. Since it seems like you know the family well, if you know what the parents like, get them something that suits their personality or something that they would really love a lot. Haha my answer was kind of obvious. Just a suggestion. Hope you found this helpful :)

That's a very nice gift. You shouldn't feel obligated to spend a lot of money just because they are. Something homemade would probably mean a lot more to them than an expensive gift. You could even watch the kids for free one night so they can have an extra night out together. It wouldn't cost you anything and I'm sure they would appreciate it.
