Have I been stealing?

I have been an employee of the company I work for, for about a year. I was promised a pay rise after 3 months. I approached my boss and he had a think about it and said yes I could have a pay rise. I didnt take any further after that discussion. About a month later I was having a meeting with one of the Senior Executives of the company and my boss said to me " I'll sign off on your pay rise right now ". I just nodded my head and said ok. I went back to my office and changed my payroll details. My boss is now saying, " I will catch you up on your pay later on" I am not sure if I am stealing or not... help
