When is it reasonable to request a "welfare check" from the police?
-
A little concerned about one of my good friends that I haven't been able to talk to on a regular basis lately, maybe once every week or two, because we work completely opposite schedules. She has other friends but she has said that things are pretty much that way with everybody because of her ridiculous work schedule. She lives by herself and has no family local. 4-5 days ago she texted me asking if I could come just sit with her for awhile, a bit unusual no other details and she didn't seem mad or upset that I wasn't able to. I didn't think much of it at the time but now in hindsight that seems like an odd request from her and she has been acting a little odd lately. Now she hasn't contacted me back since that night and I asked around some of shared friends and no one has seen or talked to her since that night, she's not answering messages or the door. However, if it weren't for the sketchy behavior recently and the weird request that would not even be thought of as weird, it's pretty normal for her to not answer texts for a few days unless it's important and she's frequently not home and when she is home she's a very heavy sleeper. Because of this, the other friends don't seem too concerned. Is it reasonable to request a "welfare check" from the police at this point? Would they even do one seeing as it's only been a few days? Or should I just wait and see if she 'reappears' in a few days? I don't think she'd be suicidal or depressed, but I only really get to see her once every week or two so it's hard for me to say. She's a tough girl and I don't think someone committing a crime against her would be likely and the house looks fine, no windows or doors open or busted. Would the cops just laugh if I requested a check over not being texted back? Can 'welfare checks' be called in anonymously? Sorry for length

Answer:
if you are that concerned then the police would probably assist, but to be honest before you took that route how about you call her place of work...........all you have to say is is so and so there and if they are could you PLEASE give them a message for me.........I know that so and so can not usually get messages / call at work but this is important etc etc................

You mean you are concerned about someone's welfare and would like them checked on. I would call the Police. You know the girl better then anyone.
