How to get experience to be a crime analyst?

• I am very interested in becoming a crime/intelligence analyst (not to be confused with a forensic analyst). I recently graduated with a bachelors of science with a major in psychology and a major in criminal justice. I am currently a social worker for people with disabilities so it seems like going to a crime analyst position would be a stretch. I am only a social worker because it was the only job I could find and I have bills to pay. Anyway, I am currently applying to graduate school to get a masters in criminology/criminal justice. So, eventually I will have the education but no practical experience. How does one get the experience needed to actually be competitive and hired as a criminal analyst? Are there any position that lead up to this position? I know there are internships, but again, I have bills to pay and most likely can't take an unpaid internship.
