Does police officers have a code of silence?

As you know code of silence? Meaning if officer witnessed another officers commit illegal things, they say nothing and forget it as it didn't happening. Why does police need code of silence?

That probably depends. If they know somebody is doing something wrong then anyone who isn't corrupt will stop it or report it. Now there are cases that I'm ok with them going "too far". A guy harms a kid and runs? I have NO problem with a cop putting a nightstick on that guy's face a few times. Back in the day when that was expected there was less crime. Duh.
