This is a ploy that many law enforcement agencies attempt to coerce people into attending schools that make their prospective counties money for. Actually, in the event of a ticket that you will be assessed points for.....attending school will only keep the point(s) from appearing on your MVR. Thus preventing your State's point system from taking affect and potentially causing a suspension on your license due to those points. The fact that you were stopped and given a citation for whatever reason, will still show up on your MVR when pulled by the insurance company and will still be counted in their assessment of your driver rates. My suggestion would be to take the course if you do not want the points to show up on your MVR. However, if you are only concerned with whether or not your insurance company will see this citation, I would forego the school. Insurance rates don't necessarily go up because of one ticket....usually, (unless your insurance company is considered a "chop-shop" (another story)), they will have a range of tickets for whatever reasons, that they will allow before assessing a debit on your rates. Hope this info helps...
