Just got a speeding ticket, will my insurance go up if I attend traffic safety school?
-
I just got a speeding ticket in Illinois (cook county) for going over the speed limit (41 in a 25). There is an option to pay the fine and attend traffic safety school to avoid conviction on my driving record. If I avoid the conviction on my driving record does that mean that my insurance will not go up? Will it be as if it had never happened? I have state farm for my insurance provider. This is the first time I have received a ticket so any help is appreciated, thanks.

Answer:
i have state farm also, ive gotten two tickets for speeding, and my rates didn't go up. If you get it off your record, your insurance won't know it happened and your rates wont go up. I know that in some places you can attend traffic school to get a discount on your rates, so you should contact your agent and see if the school will make your rated go down- how sweet would that be, you get a ticket and you pay LESS for insurance!

Avoiding the conviction means just that: your ticket is dismissed, and nothing is reported to your insurance company.
were you in a school zone? if you were i didnt think you could do traffic safety school for it. try deferred adjudication, i think you pay the ticket and 50% more (depends on your city) and it stays off your record.
It depends on the insurance company. A lot of times you can actually lower your rate by taking a driver's safety class. Contact your insurance company and ask them, or look at your policy and see if says there. I know in Texas at least, the DSC will go on your driving record with the date that you took it, but the offense will not.
