Will my insurance go up if I attend traffic safety school?

Traffic school and speeding ticket?

  • This morning I was pulled over for going 71 in a 45 in a construction zone, but the cop only cited it as 50 in a 45. I live in Nevada. I want to attend traffic school to prevent my insurance from going up. I'm only 19 and have never gotten pulled over prior to this, so I'm not sure how the whole process works. Do I go to traffic school prior to paying the ticket, or do I pay the ticket and then go to traffic school? Can I even go to traffic school to remove it from my record? And if anybody knows about how much this ticket is going to run me, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

You usually need court permission to go to traffic school. Typically you'll pay the fine and a school fee. Often the school is online. The court will tell you if you're eligible. Make sure you understand what traffic school does for you. Will it dismiss the case? If not, will it hide the points from your insurance? The cost of the ticket can differ by county. You might want to send the cop a thank you card. He did you a big favor. .

Traffic school does not usually remove the ticket from your record but stops penalties from hitting your insurance. Usually you to to traffic school after you go to court. A lot of times any speeding violations under 10 miles per hour over the limit does not go against your insurance. You should call your insurance company for the best advice.
