How do I become a police officer?

How to convince my parents to allow me to become a Police Officer?

• Hi, I'm 15 and I have made a decision as to what I would like to do with my life. After thorough research into the job, I have decided that I would like to become a Police Officer. My only problem is my parents. I have decided to finish University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business before joining the Royal Canadian Navy as I want some Life Experience before applying to become a Police Officer. - My Dad thinks that the only reason that I would want to join the Navy first is because he thinks I'm a "Rambo-Wannabe" due to my love for watching action films. However, he is partially right (In the sense that I do want to try out the latest guns and gadgets) but I also would like to do my part in serving my country/community. My motivation to become a police officer is that, as a child, I was bullied by other kids at school. I got beat up and laughed at, just for being who I am, but I did not let that break me. Instead, it made me a stronger person, one who recognizes the "darkness" of the society that we currently live in. As Bob Marley once said, "The bad guys never take a break, so why should I? Light Up the Darkness." It is with those words that motivates me to want to become a police officer. I would like to turn society into a better, brighter place. Although I know that it would be impossible for me to change the world, I will be glad to know that I made the community a safer place. However, my parents are against me in my decision. They want me to go the business route, and especially with me being the "First Son" (The first son of my grandfather's eldest son) and they want me to move to Hong Kong/China with them. I however, do not like the type of lifestyle in China and I find Hong Kong's enjoyable but I prefer something a bit more slow-paced (similar to the feel of Toronto or LA) Traditionally, I'm supposed to return to Hong Kong and do business there but it's just not my interest. How can I convince them to allow me to join the Navy and become a cop afterwards? Also, my father used to have connections with the Chinese Triads (as in Triad Members will acknowledge him on the streets and he would do legitimate business with known gang bosses) as far back as 20 years ago but was never directly involved with the triads. Will that hurt me in any way when applying for the Police? Thanks Also, out of all the Minorities that applied, what percentage usually makes it into the Academy? Thanks
