I got my court date confused and i missed it today. what do i do.?

  • I got my court date confused and i missed it today. what will happen when i show up tomorrow morning to try to correct it. i have a parking stub to show that i actually came to the courthouse for attorney info but not knowing that it was my court date today.i plan to go tomorrow to speak with the clerk, what will happen. serious answers please. It is my first offense/misdem

    This happened to me once. A warrant for my arrest was issued....when I went and turned myself in and explained to the judge what happened he just gave me a new court date. As long as this is your first offense and it was an honest mistake- you will just get a new court date.

Bend the buttf*** over son! JK, that's up the the judge and the charge really. If you were bailed out. in some states that gets refunded, but if you miss your court date, it does not get refunded. You may/may not face a fine. It's actually really hard to give you a serious or informed answer if it is not known what you are charged with. The reprocussions vary, with some things in some states like speeding ticket, automatically being placed as 'guilty' with a big fat fine added onto it because of a missed apperance. If you fail to pay THAT, then that's a brnad new charge and so on... now again, it's ultimately always up to the judge when you make your appeal or reschedule, and the severity of your charge. Don't know what you were going to court for, but just be honest with the clerk. Mistakes happen, just remember to be courteous, and they will probably work with you.
