• How long does it usually take for a house fire investigation? 3 weeks ago today my parents house caught on fire very little fire damage, mostly soot damage. The claims person said the fire burned for 6 minutes and it was caused by a space heater, at this time they were waiting on origins to show up. My parents had to get together with a lady the other day and my mom said she just asked a lot of questions. Is it typical for an investigation to take this long? They had started working on the house and just stopped because the investigation was taking so long and the contractors wanted to make sure they were getting paid. It's perfectly obvious the fire was started by the space heater by looking at the site of the fire. What could possibly be making this such a long process?
