What career in Criminal Justice should i go into? FULL POINTS?

  • im an 18 year old girl, and im going to college really soon. I'm a junior in highschool now. I have the college and all the plans for that planned out already. I am FASINATED with the whole entire criminal justice/law enforcement area. My only problem is: I don't want to be a Cop, or a lawyer. I enjoy music, and writing (or poetry) in general as well. I'm freaking out because I don't know what I can in the criminal justice area without being a cop or a lawyer. Somebody PLEASE help me outt! FULL POINTS for best answer.

    There are many other law enforcement officer jobs other than police officer jobs. Game wardens, probation officers, and federal criminal investigators are a few examples. You could work in a correctional institution. You could work as a paralegal, court reporter, or victim/witness advocate.

Corrections Officer. Parole Officer. Probation Officer. Counselor who works in a prison. Security employee (everything from being a director to a guard). Crime Scene Investigator. Bail Enforcement Agent (Bounty Hunter). You could also consider working as a Private Investigator. It's not necessarily Criminal Justice related, but you would be able to work with investigations and might occasionally be hired by a lawyer to help with a criminal case.

When you get into college, work out and get a high GPA. Also, get involved with some clubs and activities so you can pad your resume. If you have a solid resume, good GPA, and a clean record you can get into a federal agency. Just keep in mind: An employer is more likely to hire a person with a 3.2 GPA that has extra curricular activities on their resume than a person with a 4.0 and nothing else to show.
