I want to be a crime scene investigator, do I have to be born and bred in the USA?
-
I am 13 and ready to pick my options. I really want to be a CSI in America, and I don't know if I have to have been born and bred in America, please help.

Answer:
No, you don't have to be born here (though you may have to be a citizen in some places). But please remember that there are no jobs in real life law enforcement like you see when you watch CSI. It is divided into three separate jobs. 1.) Crime Scene Technicians. These are police officers who arrive at the scene, document it, and collect the evidence. They have to have done all the other "cop things" for a year or two before they can transfer over. 2.) Forensic Scientists. These are civilians. No badge, no gun. They stay in the lab and run tests on the evidence brought in to them. They usually have at least 4 year degrees in biology, chemistry, or forensic science. 3.) Detectives. These are the people who put the whole case together. Interviewing witnessed and suspects, making arrests, figuring out what the evidence means, etc. They are again Police Officers who had to do all the patrol stuff well before being promoted or transferred.

Steven F is correct... as far as the "born and bred"... You have to either be a citizen or have a work Visa to be lawfully employed in the U.S.
no you do not have to be brought up in america but you will need to be 100% good at this in order to get selected as u will probably need a visa if u do not live in amarica but if you do live in america then u will be ok. obviously if you want to do this then there is nothing stopping you doing whatever you want to do as long as you study hard then u will become whatever you want to become
There is NO SUCH THING. What you see on TV mixes the duties of no less than FOUR different jobs. As often as not, the person collecting evidence at the scene of a crime is either the patrol officer that responds first, or a detective. Lab technicians RARELY visit a crime scene and NEVER question witnesses.
No you do not , you just have to get in to a US school . They will expect good grades
