What is a flop shop?

What do i do when a guy at this shop is screwing us over?please help?

  • YESTERDAY I WROTE THIS PART!!! Ok this is going to be kind of a long story. We took our car to this shop to get a new clutch put in along with a new motor.. He quoted us $1000 so we thought this was a good deal.He told us it would take a few days and today is the 17th day! Well the first day was fine and about the 3rd day i called him and he told me that i needed a new distributor so okay that's fine then, he said that was going to be a couple hundred dollars. So i let that slide then the next two days i called him numerous times because he would not answer the phone or call back. When i did finally get a hold of him he was acting really nerves and i told him i did not want the car to sit out side without being locked up because i have subs in the trunk. He told me that was fine and when we went to his shop our car was no where to be seen and when we asked him he told us in was in a stall down below. We drove by the shop several times at night and did not see our car. Well last night my boyfriend got off work at 2 am and was driving by another shop where he found our car. The car was not locked up the door was partly opened, the interior of the car was destroyed and stuff was broke the cover over the shifter was broke into pieces and our subs were missing. My boyfriend got on the phone with the police right away and they came and took a statement he called the people of the shop where the car was found and they said that they haven't even touched the car yet so they don't know anything about it. The police went to this guys shop were it was suppost to be because we never came him permission to take it any where. The guy told the cop that the subs where gone before he even got the car and the inside he didnt know nothing about. When my boyfriend and the cop were looking at the car they found out that it was the same motor and the only thing that was replaced was the distrubitor, under the motor was still caked with grease and dirt. My boyfriend went to this shop dis morning where he found the car last night and they told him that some guy came about 9am to put the subs in. WE already gave the guy who was suppost to work on our car $600 when my boyfriend went to his shop dismorning to the guy said that he would not do nothing else to the car cuz he is mad about the cops coming to his house at 2 am my boyfriend saw the new motor that was suppost to go in the car in this guy's garage. But now the guy went and got our car from the other shop and he wants another $200 for the distrubitor. I have an invoice from this guy saying {$600 deposit on motor change over} What can i do about this? Is there anything i can do? Do i have to give him this extra $200 dollars?? Please Help Thank you for taking the time to look at this... One more thing come to find out at the shop we found the car at they said that the ground cable was cut. Not that the broke but someone cut it when i said that the guy came at 9 to put the subs in i ment that some guy came a brought the subs back from where ever they were. the came up missing from our car when we gave this guy the car to work on TODAY Your Open QuestionShow me another » What to do if this guy is screwing us over? I wrote a big thing yesterday about this guy scamming us on our car and today this is what happened i gave this guy $600 hundred deposit to put a new motor in our car, that was the 22nd of last month he told us it would be $1000 all together. Which was fine and now we finally got our subs back the guy stold from the trunk and we finally got our car back that was sitting at another shop the other day {which we did not give him the ok to take our car from his lot} unlocked with the door open and we did make a police report that night and the cop took pictures of the inside of the car that was torn apart the shifter was smashed and everything. Well today i called this guy who had our car and asked if we could come get it. i figured he could keep the $600 tell we go to court and he told me it was fine to come get the car. When we got there we went into the shop and the guy knew we were there about 15 mins of waiting i pulled out my spare key and we left with the car. About 2 hours later i got a call from the cops saying that we took a car off this guys lot that was not paid for. I have the invoice saying that we gave him $600 hundred dollars down to put a motor in our car which he did not do and now he told the cop that he told me that he wanted another $265 before i could remove the car, which is not true. i told the cop this and now i might be in trouble anyways. all the guy did to our car was destroy the inside take our subs and put a distuibtor in. I don't think its fair that he has $600 from us plus he wants another $265.What do i do? What do you think will happen to me?i dont care if he keeps $300 for the distubitor cuz he did at least put that in but that was not even part of the deal. he did that all on his own.

  • Answer:

you ned to take possession of this car and not let that guy touch it. you need to take this loser to small claims court and get a judge to figure it all out. this guy is screwing you over every step of the way and you seem to be letting him. if you don't have possession go over with a cop and get it. don't let the guy touch it again. take it to court.

Get an attorney, and file a lawsuit against both of these mechanics. The first one for leaving your car open to theft, when he told you that it was secure, and the second for charging for repairs that were never done. Have copies of all documentation proving this. It really sounds like these two were in on it together to rip you off, trash your car, and take your money for nothing. Also, report BOTH to the Better Business Bureau in your area, and see if there are other complaints against them.
