What can you do with a criminology major? (careers)(Salary)(Experience) - I really don't want to be a police officer or anything around that area Why is UCI the only UC school in CA that has a criminology program

Criminology is my major, and I am in my 4th year of college. With a degree in criminology you will learn a lot about criminal behaviors, so it will have a lot to do with psychology and predicing a persons behavior. You could work for the FBI, DEA, and even the CIA profiling criminals, You can also work in prisons or as a probation officer. Hope that helped.

Criminology is an excellent stepping stone toward a law degree, especially if you think about criminal law. There are a lot of private security businesses that a criminology degree could be useful (have you thought about VIP Protection-- a growing part of some very large companies, i.e. Wal Mart has an entire division). Some like Dynacorp and Blackwater have large overseas programs which pays extremely well. Teaching at Police Academies, use in forensic science, and work in some areas of Government other than law enforcement, are all open for Criminology majors. Good Luck... and, oh, I have no idea about the schools in California..(always wondered what they taught folks out there anyway...)
