How extensive is the background check for a 9-1-1 dispatcher?

I applied as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, I have passed everything and now comes the background check. I really want this job and I am curious as to how extensive this background check is compared to becoming a police officer. My brother was a police officer and went through many background checks and has told me how extensive it was for him. I am curious as to if its as in depth as the police one. Also, prior to the background check, they said I passed the criminal history check. What is the difference between the criminal history check and the background check. Thank you!!!!

Each department is different. But for dispatcher most background checks just make sure you don't have any felony convictions or too many speeding tickets within past 2 to 3 years or wanted by FBI. For actual Police officer or national security type clearance background check is much more extensive actually interviewing people who knew you in high school and running credit check. It's pretty intense and is done by the federal Department of Justice. If you havent done anything wrong you should be fine
