What ranking factors are used for international search?

Does anyone know of crim trials where evidence found in plain view was used as pretext for warantless search?

• I am writing a term paper about police officers screwing up cases by not requesting a search warrant or consent when they find evidence in plain view. For example, during a child welfare call police see a bong and bag of pot on the Kitchen table and proceed to search in the closed drawers of the kitchen table where they find another pound of pot and loaded gun with serial number removed. The gun and pot found in the closed drawer are suppressed because they were products of an illegal search. If the cops stopped and used what was in plain view as probable cause to search the house the case would have been solid. This is hypothetical, but I am looking for cases that would fit this general pattern.
