  • I REALLY NEED A LAWYER TO HELP ME> THESE OFFICERS CANT GET AWAY WITH THIS I was contacted by a so called police officer by e-mail saying that some dj equipment might be stolen.this was on craigslist. so i then received a phone call by this so called officer saying i should report to the station with the goods in hand, i then told the officer i sold it but i can tell u who i bought i from...when i bought the equipment this lady had receipts from where she bought. i didn't know it was stolen and the thought never even crossed my mind because i didn't buy this stuff dirt cheap i paid close to a grand and i bought it right from her house/Business. i told the officer where i lived and where the person i bought it from lived. they went to her house and never came to mine, not even to verify they were really even police officers now the officer wanted to know who i sold it to but i couldn't find them and i didn't want to get someone else in trouble for something that had nothing to do with them. i dont know why they just called me by phone and never presenting me a badge or anything just a phone call. I just dont know why he didn't come to my house and talk to me. it wasn't like i was trying to avoid him or anything like that.so i was arrested at WORK and sent to county jail stripped searched and embarrassed. i cant believe the cops can do this kinda stuff. can some one PLEASE help me. • Answer:

You are unlikely to find a lawyer to help you for free on Yahoo Answers. Contact one in your area if you so choose. But police can identify themselves online and over the phone in an investigation. They can arrest you at work (if they have probable cause to do so), they can strip search you in jail. If they gave your phone number out that's unethical, and you can file a complaint against them.

..... how many times are you gonna ask this?

The police didn't do anything wrong. They did their job. Even if you did not know the items were stolen, you can still be charged with receiving stolen property. I think you are trying to play the ignorance card by saying you didn't know he was an officer. If you didn't know he was an officer you should have told him to meet you at the police department or called the police department to verify. I'm sure he gave you his information. They either had probable cause or a warrant to arrest you. You can be arrested at your place of employment. If you are arrested and placed in jail it is natural to be strip searched. You need to contact a lawyer in your town that can actually help you with your case.

i really really think this is not the police calling you. if in doubt call your local pd(non emergency number please ) and ask them. could be a scam.

You bought stolen goods, which is looked at in a court of law as being the same as stealing the goods...so as far as the law is concerned, you did steal the goods. You admitted to buying and selling stolen goods, giving police probable cause to arrest you. They arrested you at work, which is perfectly legal, as you being at work is not grounds for immunity from arrest. You were sent to jail where you were strip searched, standard procedure for most jails. Basically, the police CAN do this to you for committing a crime, which you did. It's YOUR fault for not checking the goods before you bought them. The police did nothing wrong, sorry.
