How much trouble can you get in for driving after curfew?

If a car gets pulled over for driving past curfew as a teenager, does the passenger get in trouble?

  • My friend wants to see a midnight premiere and she would have to drive at like 3am to get us home. The law is teens can't drive past 11 or something, shes very willing but i'm not sure if I want to be a REBEL because I don't want my insurance or anything to go up.

  • Answer:

Well, if there is an age-specific curfew, anyone, driving or not, can be in violation. But, call your local agency and see if the statute applies to those who have their parents' permission. If not, have your folks write a note you can carry explaining specifically where you are going and what time you agreed that you'd be home. Try that.

Normally in most states the drivers licence becomes invalid past curfew. That is a traffic misdemeanor when you are cited for that violation. Driving is a privilege. Ask your Dad he will tell you the truth since he's paying the bills. If you don't have a dad then your Mom will have to pay.
