Why Would I have Only One Swollen Tonsil?

One swollen tonsil? Very very very hard to swallow and it feels like I'm getting a fever/flu?

  • One of my tonsils is very swollen. It's swollen to the point where when I put my finger in my mouth I can touch it. It's very hard and inflamed. What could this be? My friend has prescription medicine for infected tonsils. Should I try taking that? Are there any at home remedies? But most importantly what could this be? Thanks guys!

  • Answer:

Never take medication that is prescribed for someone else, even if it says it will treat whats wrong. You could be allergic to something in the meds and not know it. But it might be tonsilitis. Drink lots of fluids and rest as much as possible and gargle with warm salt water. If it still persists after a few days see a doctor. But if you are really worried you can call a nurse hotline to ask what they might think you should do.
