How much does a RN or LVN make?

How much do LVN's make in Houston TX?

  • I have a couple classes left before I can apply for the LVN program at HCC. I work at Methodist in the food dept and I talked to one of the nurses there and said that the hospital does not hire LVN's. why is that? Is there not a demand for LVN'S as there is for RN's? How much money do LVN's make?

    Methodist is trying to reach magnum status, which is top status. They are not hiring LVN's because RN's are more qualified in the area of nursing. As for LVN pay I was offered a job as a new graduate, no nursing experience 20/hr.

There is probably more demand for RNs rather than LVNs, but with more schooling comes more responsibility. Please also be aware that the nursing (and social work/counseling) field is supposed to have a high (emotional) burn-out rate and that includes all levels of the industry.
