How common is b12 deficiency?

Possible B12 deficiency?

  • For a year now I've been feeling extremely tired. I could go with 12 hours of sleep and still feel fatigued. Along with that I've noticed constipation and stomach noises have become a problem (these two started in a matter of a week.) Could this I possibly have a B12 deficiency?

  • Answer:

It's unlikely. That wouldn't be a doctor's first guess. If you think B12 deficiency might be causing the symptoms, the first question would be, do you take a multivitamin every day? If you have a vitamin deficiency, it might not be B12. Taking a multivitamin every day will clear up most possible deficiencies, including B12. Do not pick the multivitamin that says "Super Ultra Daily." Some multivitamins practically overdose you on certain vitamins (but of course vitamins and minerals usually don't have negative side effects, so you can't tell). A simple Centrum daily multivitamin will suffice. If you still think you might have a vitamin deficiency, you can have a chemistry panel (blood work) run that will give all your blood vitamin levels. It's always best to talk to a doctor.
