Most likely, this would be caused by a cavity that has caused the tooth to become abscessed, This could cause pain in the surrounding gum, jaw, and cheek area. If you do have an abscessed or infected tooth, you will notice that the pain becomes much worse when you lie down, and may even throb. You will need to see a dentist right away. They can put you on antibiotics to clear up the infection and may recommend a root canal. Don't worry, i just had one, and it really wasn't all that bad. Bottom line: GO TO THE DENTIST! ;)

You could have an infected tooth could be a sensitive nerve to cold things or heat you could grind your teeth at night generally this is called neuralgia pain and warm face cloth or hot pack can alleviate it massaging your gums in and outside in circular motions helps hope you have had your tetanus shot and not got a rusty nail in your foot as the worse scenario is tetanus either way a doctor would help always keep up with tetanus shots if working around horses or rusty items Hope this helps granny M x
