Pain on top of foot like charlie horse?

How long is the pain suppose to last after having a charlie horse?

  • I had a mild charlie horse while I was swimming. I didn't rub it because I have a clotting problem (which I'm on warfarin for), and I'm always worried that there could be a left over clot lurking about. But It's been quite a few hours and my leg is still tight and sore. Is this normal? My Dr has told me that my calves are not long enough to fit the bone. (If that makes sense). I've been told I have several knots in my calves. But, again, I'm afraid to rub them due to the clot thing. Any suggestions?

  • Answer:

I have those things too, they make my legs sore for days afterwards. You can relieve it by pointing your heel outwards as far as you can, or walk on it gently until it walks out. The pain is horrible isn't it? Sorry to hear you are having those things.

get in touch with your doc for an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot;; that's about all you can do @ this time;; actual charley horses can turn into something more involved, depends on the level of muscle contraction, & how long it perpetuates;; also look for swelling, shininess, redness & warmth in the area of pain;; you may not get all of these symptoms;; & keep as active as you can.. good luck!!
