Is it unhealthy to have a very low resting heart rate?

Is it really unhealthy if my heart rate is 120 when resting? Exercise tips?

  • My heart rate is 110-120 when I'm resting, and I measured it a couple of times and it's always in that range. Once even before going to sleep, and when I measured it I wasn't excited and I didn't do any physical labour. I'm very young, I weigh about 130 lbs and I'm 5.7 feet tall, I don't have heart problems for now, but I guess I don't exercise often, 2 times a week for an hour. Could non-exercising be the only cause of this? And please could you show me some links with exercises for making your heart rate lower. Exercises with weights are good? Thank you

  • Answer:

Well, the heart rate isn't the only factor to consider. For example, if your exercise heart rate is 150, and then it takes five minutes of rest to get back to 120, that's a problem. If it takes =/<1.5 minutes to get back to 120, that is fine. 120 is probably due to your height. And, you have a great BMI, so I would say you're fine.
