How can I fall asleep faster (without sleeping pills)?

  • I'm 15 and for the past week I have had difficulty falling asleep. I'm out of school so I know I'm not tired as I usually am because I'm at home, but even if I do something during the day I'm not able to fall asleep. It takes me like 2-4 hours to fall asleep when it used to take like 20 minutes. I just lie down with my eyes closed and i'm "resting" but i'm not actually sleeping. I'm not thinking about anything or anxious or anything like that, but it's like my mind won't shut down even when I'm tired. It's causing me to have headaches which even make it harder to fall asleep. I've tried Advil PM, which didn't work, and drinking a warm glass of milk. I really need like a long night of sleep because now I get like about 4-6 hours of sleep which isn't enough when I used to get 12. Is there any other remedy that can help me fall asleep faster without sleeping pills?

    Try not eating or doing any exercise before bed. If you do, make sure its 3 hours before you want to go to sleep. Taking a warm bath may help also. Also only lay in bed when you are trying to fall asleep. Make sure your room is dark with no extra noise. Dont watch tv or get on the computer 30 minutes before bed since the light from the computer may trick your brain into thinking its daytime. Make sure your room is cooler since the body becomes more "sluggish" when cold. I hope this helps you :)
