How can I have a nursing license in California?

Can i get my nursing license with these misdemeanor convictions in california?

  • Misdemeanor under the influence of a uncontrolled substance i did prop 36 and the case was set aside misdemeanor possession of unlawfull credit card information both of these convictions were 7 years ago

  • Answer:

Well, were you actually CONVICTED of either? The way you said "the case was set aside" makes it seem as if you weren't convicted of anything. If not, it wouldn't be on your record that is usually given to the public, and the only places that would find it would be law enforcement or government jobs. You should try calling a local hospital and seeing what they have to say about it.

I should think so. Most employers do not care about these petty crimes. They only care about the ones will real harm was done. That is why when you apply for a job, they inquire about felonies. Getting your license should be similar.

It's not really the hiring you need to be concerned about, its actually getting into nursing school. Im going through it right now due to 2 felony cases. You just have to write the state board of nursing explaining the situation and how you have changed and they'll approve you, then the schools will let you in. The job part comes easy because the state already pretty much cleared your name so no worries. Good luck & don't give up!
