What does blood in the stool mean?

What does it mean when there's blood in my stool?

  • Today and yesterday when I used to restroom to go #2, there was a lot of loose blood that was not necessarily within the stool that made the water turn a bright pink. When I wiped, there were almost no sign of the stool and just dark red blood. I read online that this could be very serious if it continues. I have two questions, What could this mean and when should I call for a doctors appointment?

    well if it's dark blood you are always meant to go to the doctor, but if it's just light blood like when you cut yourself then it probably just means you have a heamoroid internal or external or you could have a fissure which is just a cut.
