What does blood in the stool mean?

Blood in stool, what could it mean, help please?

I don't have health insurance at the moment, so I don't know what to do because I can't exactly go to the doctors. Earlier today at around 5 I noticed a SMALL (very very small, like a dot) amount of blood on my toilet paper. Just 5 minutes ago, I "went".. & examined (yes, gross, but i'm concerned) my stool, & there seems to be blood IN the stool. What could cause this? What can I do about it. Please don't scare me & demand I go to the ER, insight would be really helpful right now. Thanks so much for the help! (& yes, i know Yahoo! Answers members can not diagnose what I have / treat me, however I'm just looking for information at the moment & would really appreciate any help)

well a rectal bleed is never a good thing and can sometimes mean an internal bleed in your intestines. now it's nothing to worry about if you go into the doctor and get it checked out. but since you just noticed it wait another time and see if there is still blood in it just to make sure.
