How to quit smoking for real?

Just quit smoking how long does withdrawal last?

  • I just quit smoking about 3 days ago i was told that after the first 3 days it was easy. However, the withdrawal symptoms are just starting to appear. How long do they last for? I have been dipping for 1.5 years and smoking for 4 months, I quit because i am going to go in the air force and need to get physically ready smoking and dipping have held me back from reaching the top fitness category. I already feel better when running, but i have been sweating, getting angry at everything, and basically just being pissed off. When will it stop, there is no chance i will start smoking again because i already made up my mind i want to quit and have no desire for a ciggy , but these withdrawal symptoms are killing me when will it stop? Also, i was just wondering what immediate benefits i will see in the next 2-5 months from quitting.

  • Answer:

Just brush your teeth, drink water, breathe deep a few times..get centered. Whenever you have a craving. Should go away pretty soon. I myself smoked for 35 years and quit by smoking sage..just got some and inhaled the smoke till my nic fit went away. Had no withdrawals. Did the other things too. Good luck..you will feel so much better and you won't stink anymore either from smoking!! Your lungs are not going to hurt and you won't cough up green gunk. You will see..hang in there!

I've never smoked (and therefore never had to quit) but I worked in the Quit Smoking program at a hospital for a while and I heard from LOTS of people that they found up to the first month to be really difficult, with the first two weeks being the worst on average. I know they say three days but for a lot of people it's simply not the case. Hang in there and hopefully over the next week you'll start to see a lot of improvement in your withdrawal symptoms. The addiction needs to work its way out of your system and for some people that takes longer than it does others. Best of luck and congratulations on making such an awesome decision : ) Edit: sorry, I forgot about the last part.
