Why do your eyes get red when you're tired?

Any way to not feel tired or get rid of 'heavy' eyes when you haven't slept?

  • I'm staying awake all day to fix my sleep schedule as I start my summer job next week. I've only been up for 19 hours and I'm already feeling pretty tired. Kind of makes me depressed as I used to be able to stay up for 30+ hours when I was in middle/high school and I was fine. lol. It's not like I'm about to die of sleep deprivation, but my eyes feel heavy and I just have a lack of energy. Tried coffee and it lasts for like 30 minutes. Anything I can do to stay awake/not feel tired and/or get rid of these 'heavy eyes'? I need to stay up for another 11-12 hours. BTW I've drank two cups of coffee and it lasts for like 30 minutes. I don't wanna overload on coffee all day. I also can't go to the store to get an energy drink or anything as my friend is currently using my car. Got any suggestions?

  • Answer:

Try a cold shower and/or walking around your apartment some. Activities that require standing, like cooking or cleaning, also will help you stay awake.
