Have you ever had spinal anesthesia?

Spinal Anesthesia or Local anesthesia or small inguinal hernia operation?

  • I am bit confuse which one should i choose. i already told them to do the spinal one. but i am quite nervous for that procedure since i cant move my legs for quite some time.

  • Answer:

Ask them to change it to Local Anesthesia. I rather not have any one mess with spinal cord any way unless it is a must and no other thing can be done. It is messing with nervous system, when local can do the trick, and is tried and true any way!

Either is fine. You'll feel less with a spinal, so if feeling what is going on bothers you, stick with the spinal. If you don't mind some pressure and pushing and pulling, then the local will work. You may change your mind up until the last minute. Spinals are the best anesthetic ever. I've had one myself, and have put in thousands.

I prefer a general anesthetic for this type of simple surgery. My reasoning is that, if a spinal goes wrong, you end up paralyzed for the rest of your life, but if a general goes wrong, you simply don't wake up. In minor procedures such as this, the anesthesia is actually more of a risk than the procedure itself, even though the risk from anesthesia is still very low.
