How much money can i earn being on SSI?

Need some answers about SSI stuff?

  • BACKSTORY: I'm 19 and live at home(In Maine). I have (diagnosed) severe social anxiety and depression, which I'm on medications for both. I live at home and have not had a 'real' job that I couldn't do outside of my house. To give you a better idea of how severe my depression/anxiety is I'll give you an example: From 4th to 8th grade I was physically ill every morning before school and even after I arrived there I would have mini panic attacks almost everyday. This continued until 9th grade(14 Years Old) when I finally dropped out of school completely, unable to deal with it any longer. I do not have my diploma, though I am working on getting my GED.. I'm prepared to get it, but the social anxiety is currently keeping me from doing so. I also do not have my driver's license or permit for the same reason, was unable to attend Driver's Ed because of my irrational anxiety. Okay, finally to the questions: I understand that I need to apply for SSI benefits and will most likely be denied when I apply, I will then hire a lawyer to take care of it. I'm wondering 1. Is there a time limit of how long you can wait between being denied by the SSA and appealing it with a lawyer? If so, how long do I have? 2. I live with my parents, my mother is retired and my father still works. He makes a decent amount of money, but I take care of my own bills and needs, they just supply me with a room. If I state that I either A) Intend to start paying them rent or B) Intend to move out and pay for rent in an apartment of my own; would that make a difference in the decision to accept/deny me? 3. Also, pertaining to the above: Would it have any impact on the amount per month I got? (Would like to save enough to be able to move out on my own.. hoping that might cure a bit of my anxieties) 4. I have a job working for my father from home which earns me only about $350/month. I know that SSI benefits are allowed for people who work as long as they make less than $1100/month, but working for my father also earns me a small amount of health insurance, will this change anything? I don't intend to apply for MaineCare unless I absolutely had to give up my insurance from that job, which I'd rather not.. as it's the only thing I do for money that I feel like I truly 'earn.' Thanks for the responses and sorry for the Wall-O-Text. Will answer any additional questions you have for me in the Additional Information ASAP.

Look up Allsup on the internet. I wish I had written it down before I got on here but I didn't, sorry! These groups of representatives are amazing! I hurt so Bad that running everywhere to get paperwork was not gonna work. I had a lawyer before calling Allsup and got messed over! He did nothing for me! Allsup let's you relax at home (with your anxiety this would be great) and they send for everything! They send you the papers you need to sign. I finally got my disability thanks to Allsup! This company makes filing for disability almost a cake walk! I have to go to sleep now. God bless you and good luck.
