Sore recovered sprained ankle. help?

i sprained my ankle in a cheerleading accident in mid september. i had an aircast for about a week and was then just told to wrap it with an ace bandage and go back into cheer whenever i felt ready. i went back immediately and continued doing what i did before, and everything was fine. now though, my ankle is getting painfully sore at random times. and it only lasts short term. how do i make it stop?

ice it and elevate it dont work out when it is sore.
