Horrible jaw pain without a cause.

What could cause jaw pain like this? Please read details!?

  • About two weeks ago I noticed some tenderness in my jaw. But it's not something I would consider normal. It's not in my mouth or on the muscle or joint. It's in about a square inch area just below the ear on the lower part of the jaw. It's the part where it kind of curves just below the joint. At the time it only hurt if I accidentally touched it. Anyways it hurt pretty bad, like a bruise. But that's all I thought it was. So i let it go. Then about a week ago it started getting worse. Now it hurts even when i don't touch it and the pain radiates to my ear and face a little bit. The skin is not bruised or hurt at all. It definitely feels like it's the bone or something. What could cause pain like this? I will, of course, be going to a doctor but I'm just wondering what to expect. Thanks.

  • Answer:

well, is it possible you got hit there by something? sometimes even the smallest blow can cause bruising of the bone or a small fracture. it could be your wisdom teeth if you've still got them. going to the doctor though is smart.

Wisdom teeth. You need to get them pulled before permanent damage occurs.
