Can a blood clot form from a deep bruise?

I was at work on a Wednesday and I accidentally walked into a metal L shaped bracket that is attached (upper thigh height I'm about 5'5)to the outer wall of where i work at.It really hurt,and I knew it would leave a bruise so I just bruised it off and went home. On Friday my boyfriend noticed a my leg and asked what happened I took a look down and seen a huge bruise on my upper thigh!(kinda looked like a really big paint ball hit me) It was a red in the center and it even still had the line marks from the L bracket in my skin! today is Sunday and it still looks pretty bad, having some kind of pain in my leg(at the bruise point) but nothing too bad. I just want to know if a blood clot can form from such a deep bruise
