Why do my bones hurt when I run?

When to run on sprained/bruised ankle?

  • ok, i run track for university of florida, and rolled my ankle about 14days ago, the trainers said that they think i bruised the interior of it by rolling it to where to bones pinched a tendon on the inside of my foot, the first few days it was sore to walk on but by the third day it was sore to touch at the main point but i could jog with a little discomfort. now 14days later i can prac fine just a little tender going around curves and is only a little sore when if i touch the direct spot that i hurt, it is still a little swollen compared to the other foot but who knows how it looked compared to the other foot in the first place...so question is, i normally go out and practice on my own at night to help with my keeping in front, i took off last week totally and now want to start night runs again, do you think i will damage it anymore if it is at the point that it only hurts slightly. and i am also looking into buying either a tens unit or a portable ultrasound unit for myself, which do you think would help more for these sorts of injury's?

  • Answer:

To answer the damage question, it can be either. I would practice on it, but I'm stubborn. Bring someone else with you who's a little more healthy just in case. Or at least bring a phone, or something you can call for help with. Precautions won't hurt. If the bones pinched a tendon, they should have done something about it, and if they did, you're fine. But if they're letting it heal on its own, you might want to give it a few more days, or do what I said above.
