How do you heal a wound?

How long will my wound take to heal? (Details inside)?

  • Okay, I'll try to describe this as completely as possible. I scraped my knee against the rough edge of a cement bench on Friday, at around four fifteen pm. Now it's Sunday. The wound is about four cm wide, but not very deep. It has just taken off about half (?) the first layer of the epidermis. It bled quite a lot, but I rinsed the wound almost immediately, but didn't get to wash it out till later, around seven thirty. I kept the wound covered with wet tissue as it didn't stop bleeding immediately. After around 52 hours, it had yellow pus. It was confirmed infected by a doctor, and I've been prescribed cloxcillin (250 mg) to take. So far I've taken four pills. My lymph nodes are not swollen, so I believe the infection has died down? It still has puss, however. The puss dries up almost immediately upon contact with the nonadhesive bandage, and makes the bandage stick to the wound. I apply acriflavine lotion, and change the dressing every day. It's only the third day, however. I would guess the wound to be about 3mm deep. How long would knee wounds take to heal? I'm sorry this is so long. Help would be appreciated? Any advice to prevent scarring?
