My auntie swallowed a fish bone what should she do?

Is it possible that a fish bone has been stuck in my throat for 5 years?

  • When I was 13 I swallowed a fish bone, when that happened I felt a huge pain in my throat for weeks and I felt something there whenever I swallowed, but when I went to the doctors they say that there was nothing..The pain and that feeling that I had something there would come for a few moments now and then since that happened... I also got a lump in my neck (in the spot where it hurts) when that happened. I've had this lump in my neck for 5 years now... So, a few days ago, when I was screaming, I felt that pain again and the sensation that I have something in my throat...and now it hurts so much sometimes...it's the exact same thing I felt before...the exact same place in my throat. It's the same thing. I don't know if this helps, but I got my tonsils removed when I was 5 and I also get food stuck in my throat probably every week... All I want to know is that if it is possible that the fish bone is still there... Please, help me, I even have been losing sleep because of this. Thanks

It's unlikely the bone is still there, but an injury and/or swelling sustained from the original event might be the cause of your problems. Having food become stuck in one's throat is sufficient reason to have a doctor take a look down there.
