Why is my rib cage deformed?

Why does the middle of my rib cage go in?

  • I've had this most my life, between my left and right rib cage goes in, and it makes me look like i have a hole, in fact it's just a few millimeters deeper than the rest of the middle bit, can someone tell me what it is? and how i can get rid of it? also I'm 14 so it could be growth I'm not so sure

You have pectus excavatum (look up google images) - its a very common chest wall deformity. If its so minor, you'll have no problems. Cosmetically deforming pectus excavatum can be corrected with surgery (by a good thoracic surgeon). Doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about at the moment. If it does begin to look more prominent as you grow, speak to your GP.
