My toe nail fell off?

My toe nail fell off and now my foot is sore, is that the reason?

• About a week ago, I was clipping my toe nails (by hand), and when I went to peel off my pinkie toe nail, I felt a little crack and realized the whole nail was about to come off. It bled a little, but I left it alone. Eventually it healed and I was able to peel off the whole toe nail. When I peeled it off, I could see the visible toe nail, but there was part of my toe nail that was maybe underneath the surface that I peeled off as well. For days, I didn't think anything about it. It didn't hurt or anything. But, I guess the toe nail is starting to grow back, and now there is a severe soreness shooting down the left side of my foot. It's so sore I can barely walk. My mom said my foot looks a little swollen, but there's no discoloration or anything. Is it because the nail is growing back after so much of it was removed, or could it be something else? Is there anything I can do or take to make the soreness go away? It's been three days and I'm miserable!
