What causes lower right abdominal pain that's tender to the touch?

CAR WRECK on 10/03/2010 Have pain a week after, but none at time of wreck?

  • I was run off the road at 09.34pm 10/03/2010 ended up hitting a culvert, airbags deployed. I have never had any type of injurys (broken arm) and in good health. I felt as if I had no injurys and did not seek medical attition after the wreck. I was a little dizzy but that was it. However next day I wsa a little sore, but nothing to really think twice about. Well Thursday four days after the wreck, I woke up with sever pain slightly above and beneath my right breast. Tender to touch and painfull to take usual breaths. My thoughts were "You where in a wreck this is the aftermath" Friday it felt as if it was 5 times worse, a little swollen and very tender, now only able to take short breaths, no deep breathing. Today, it seems 5 times worse than yesterday, moving hurts it, very tender, slow short short breathing, burping, coughing, sneezing, yawning, blowing nose, raising my hands above to reach or simple things like washing my hair ec...t causes sever pain. I can touch it but still very tender and painful. Progressivly getting worse. I have iced, used heat, tried lying flat and seem to be getting no releif. I have never had broken ribs, collasped lungs or anything of that nature, and dont general panic. That being said, I dont really know what to think. I dont currently have medical insurance so I am hesitant to visit the ER, I also am a single mother of 3 and dont want to make them go thru the typical ER visit, IF it is just somthing as simple as brusing, or muscel strain. I am greatful to all who have any advise that you could share, and thank you for your time:) Amanda P.S. I am sorry about my spelling (not ever been my strongest of things) but it will not allow me to open and use the spell checker opition? Thanks again

You should have taken the ride in the ambulance. During and after the wreck you have alot of adrenaline that masks all pain for a while. My friend refused the ambulance and went to the urgent care, where she said she felt fine so the treated one cut. That night when she went to take her shirt of to shower it wouldnt come off. The right side of her stomach had been messed up and the blood had stuck the shirt to her. You need to go the an urgent care. There is very little wait compared to the ER and are typically close to home. The doc or nurse practioner or PA will take an xray of your chest and can give you the do's and don'ts so it can heal properly, might give you a medicine to help with the pain and maybe give you time off..who knows. The main thing is that if you have damaged something that is bones/lung related you should have it checked. Call the urgent care ahead of time and check to make sure they have xray in the building and go very early in the morning so the wait will be short-er. Bring snacks and a empty your purse of like everything so that it will be light. You don't want to damage yourself further. Good Luck.

Call your car insurance company and get checked out - could be a simple as soft tissue injuries that show up later but cause a lot of pain when it finally does show up (bruising, loss of range of motion, etc.) Maybe your car insurance coverage will take care of the appointment.
