My knee makes a clicking sound?

What type of knee injury does this sound like?

  • I have had knee problems for 5 years at least. I'm a 19 yr old female. Anyways, my knee used to make this awful crunching sound any time I would bend my knee. This got progressively worse for about 3 years. Last march, I had surgery for what they thought was a combination of chondromalacia and a torn meniscus. Ended up not being either, and instead plica syndrome. They also cleaned my knee out too in the same procedure. Now, 9 months later, I am having worse pain than before my surgery. I was fine, with occasional aches, until this week. Now my knee makes a popping/ clicking sound and hurts deep in my knee. What could this be?? I remember twisting my knee while carrying a toddler a week ago, but thought it was nothing and kept going. Please help me!! Thanks.
