Bleeding, super swollen stretched ears?

Stretched ears started bleeding?

  • so on monday i stretched my ears from 8 gauge to 6 gauge. it was really sore, and it tingled. they were both fine on tuesday. i started twisting the tapers around. i did that in my past stretches and nothing bad happened. then this morning, i started twisting them some more. my left ear was fine, but when i took out the taper in my right ear, there was some fresh blood on the taper. i dont know what happened, i waited about 2 months and 3 weeks until i stretched up to 6gauge. i've never skipped any sizes before. it didnt hurt while there was blood, like it was fine. i didnt have a blowout at the back of the hole, i cleaned it with warm water and qtips, then i soaked it in a saline solution, and i downsized to 8gauge. what happened? and what else should i do?

  • Answer:

Tapers aren't jewelry. Wearing them regularly can cause the back of your ear to thin out. The whole purpose of tapers is to make getting the jewelry in easier. Spinning the jewelry only damages the healing tissue. Just because it feels okay, doesn't mean it's not harming your ear. Odds are, the regular moving of the taper tore your ear. You did good in downsizing, but make sure you're wearing high quality 8g jewelry and not a taper. Give your ear a bit longer next time and maybe invest in some tape instead of using a taper.
