How do i reply to my own question?

Fractured foot, but won't wear boot?! I don't know how to reply to people so I am posting another question!?

  • Thank you so much to everyone who answered my question about my daughter not wearing her CAM boot for her fifth metatarsal fracture in her foot!! I want to reply to the comments, but I don't know how! So if I called the doctor and asked if he would put her in a cast so her foot would heal is he even allowed to say yes? I hate this because my daughter is over 18, but she is on MY husband's insurance and my husband and I pay for everything and we pay for her to see the doctor. She is completely covered by us!! Obviously a cast is going to be the only thing to keep her off her foot, but she also didn't need a cast when she went to the doctor. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET THE DOCTOR TO SAY YES AND GET IN HER ASAP?!!? if she is just walking on her foot is it really going to make the fracture worse or do people just say that? It isn't like she is doing high impact cardio all day. Somebody PLEASE HELP ME with HOW I CAN GET A CAST ON HER LEG!!!! I don't want to deal with a worse situation.... also...i can tell her i won't support you anymore or I will take her car away or whatever, but that won't stop her. I have already tried it all, but she doesn't live with me and I am not going to the extreme of making her move home or not paying for this and that because she needs to stay in college and i don't want to make this situation turn into that. I just need help to how i can get a cast on her foot!!! PLEASE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

  • Answer:

Tell her the consequences of not wearing the boot. If she doesn't wear it, the fracture won't heal properly and it'll turn into a more serious problem that will most likely require surgery. If she says she finds the boot is too difficult to wear and walk around ask her if she would rather have a cast and crutches which are a major pain. Otherwise call the doctor.Make an appointment for a "check-up" and go with her. He/she will probably share your concerns and will cast her. Then, boom. Problem solved.

You can call her doctor and express your concerns and see what he says. Maybe he can call her back in to get a another xray or to explain to her the dangers of walking on her foot. It's not horrible if she continues walking on it. The only person she is hurting is herself. It usually won't be short term effects it'll come up in long term with problems. Again, because she is over 18 no matter if you pay for her insurance or not, she is now covered by privacy. Just relax, and keep talking to your daughter about it. Or try reverse psychology and agree that she shouldn't wear her brace. Teens like to go against their parents, maybe she'll wear the boot just because you said she shouldn't. Ya know? Again, it's nothing for you to freak out about. And remember is she is adult now, she needs to learn the consequences of certain decisions. You are her mother, be there to support her, but don't try to force her to do anything. Good luck.

Walking on the foot can make it a lot worse it will make it worse and worse and the bone can completely brake it has happened to me! Call the doctor and say she will not stay off it and tell him you think it's best if they put and cast and I am sure he will agree.
