How long does a broken foot take to heal?

• I'm pretty sure I broke a bone in my foot (left foot on the left side). There's a rather large bump and it is very painful. Thing is, I did it about three months ago. Shouldn't it have healed by now? It hadn't bothered me much until now, unless I moved it the wrong way. I'm forever hurting myself, and I've gotten used to walking weirdly to avoid pain. I don't know what I've done, but I'm beginning to feel sick and the pain is extremely intense. I'd just like to know why it hasn't healed. The way I understand it, people break bones a lot and never know it, or that they don't need casts. Should I see a doctor? I keep thinking of that House episode where the woman's broken toe nearly killed her...

  Usually 4-6 weeks, but that can be extended indefinitely if you are walking on it all day. It needs RICE to heal properly, I'd say go to the doctor and get a boot.
