How long does it take to heal when you pull your back?

What Grade Groin Strain/Pull Do I Have And How Long Will It Take To Heal?

  • I can't do much physical activity, I can walk fine but can't really run or jump. However, I have no bruising or swelling. I also feel the muscle spasms described in stage 3. It seems that I have symptoms of each but also don't have some of them, so what exactly is the extend of my injury. How long will it take to heal and should i see a Doctor? And if you have any helpful tips on how to speed up the healing process it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Answer:

Yes that sounds like a groin pull. As you're discovering, they can take quite some time to heal. I've been nursing a recurrent groin injury since June. First step here is: how severe is your injury? Grade I Groin Strain: Mild discomfort, often no disability. Usually does not limit activity. Grade II Groin Strain: Moderate discomfort, can limit ability to perform activities such as running and jumping. May have moderate swelling and bruising associated. Grade III Groin Strain: Severe injury that can cause pain with walking. Often patients complain of muscle spasm, swelling, and significant bruising. Grade 1 will clear up on its own but can take up to 6 weeks. Grade 2 may clear up on its own but it's advisable to see the doctor; will take 8-12 weeks. Grade 3 you need to see the doctor. Meanwhile, home treatment; if there's swelling, use ice. If there's no swelling, use moist heat to relieve pain. Take interferometry's. Aleve is a good one for pulled muscles.
